The Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched a special promotion to commemorate two decades of its exclusive partnership with American Express. The initiative was announced on Monday, following a celebratory kick-off event held in July.

As part of the promotion, BML American Express credit card members can enter a lucky draw by spending a minimum of MVR 3,000. The prize includes 20,000 BML Rewards points, which can be redeemed for flight, car, or hotel bookings, as well as gift cards from various local and international merchants, including Amazon, Apple, and Spotify.

BML’s Director of Retail, Business and SME Banking, Moosa Nimal, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “We are proud to have introduced the first credit card in the Maldives with American Express in 2004, followed by the world’s first American Express debit card. Today, American Express is a trusted and preferred brand for Maldivians.”

Nimal also noted the recent introduction of the country’s first Sharia’h-compliant credit card, which has garnered significant interest for its exclusive benefits.

As the largest card-issuing and acquiring bank in the Maldives, BML serves over 345,000 customers and collaborates with more than 7,900 merchants. The bank continues to strengthen its position as the exclusive issuer and merchant acquiring partner for American Express in the country.
