Ibrahim Shujau, Deputy Leader of the People’s National Congress (PNC) and MP for Baarah constituency, has accused the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the People’s National Front (PNF) of conspiring to register MDP MP Hussain Ziyad to the PNC without his knowledge.

Allegations of Political Sabotage

In a post on X, Shujau claimed that the MDP leadership, with the assistance of PNF, orchestrated the move to create public confusion and discord regarding the recent constitutional amendment. He stated that the two parties collaborated to undermine PNC’s credibility.

Elections Commission’s Response

The Elections Commission (EC) has since nullified the registration form submitted to add Hussain Ziyad to the PNC, confirming that it was done without his consent.

Political Fallout

The incident has sparked controversy, with Shujau emphasizing that such actions are intended to destabilize the political landscape. The MDP and PNF have yet to respond to these allegations.
