Fathimath Nabaha (Naba) and Aminath Nabiha (Nabi) celebrated a triumphant victory by winning gold medals in women's doubles at the Uganda International Series Badminton Tournament on Saturday. Competing for the Revival Sports Club of Maldives, the pair progressed through the quarter-finals but faced stiff competition in the semi-finals, ultimately losing to a duo from the UAE in a challenging match.

The tournament also featured other talented players from the club, including Zayn Zaki and Nibal Ahmed in men's doubles. Additionally, Zayn and Nabaha showcased their skills in mixed doubles, advancing to the quarter-finals as well. This isn’t the first time they’ve found success; the duo previously secured gold medals at the Yonex Sunrise Pakistan International Series in November 2020, marking a historic achievement for Maldivian badminton.

Nabaha also earned a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the Uganda International Series in 2020, partnering with Hussain Zayan Shahid Zaki.

Organized by the Badminton Association of Uganda, the Uganda International Series has been recognized by the Badminton World Federation as an international series since 2008. The tournament offers a cash prize of USD 5,000 and provides crucial ranking points that are essential for players aiming to qualify for the Olympic Games, making it a significant event in the badminton
