Shirak Air Launches Direct Flights Connecting Armenia and the Maldives from November 14

Armenian airline Shirak Air has decided to launch scheduled flights to the Maldives, marking the first time the airline will operate regular services between the two countries.

According to a report by Aviators Maldives, the flights are scheduled to commence on November 14. The service will operate between Zvartnots International Airport in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, and Velana International Airport (VIA) in the Maldives.

The airline plans to operate one flight per week, with services scheduled every Saturday. The flights will be operated using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

According to the published schedule, the flight will depart Yerevan at 3:05 a.m. local time. After a stop in Muscat, Oman, for refuelling, the aircraft is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives at 12:10 p.m. Maldives time.

The return flight will depart the Maldives at 1:10 p.m. and arrive back in Yerevan at 8:15 p.m. local time. The total journey time is approximately eight hours, including the stop in Muscat.

Tickets for the new service are already on sale, with one-way fares starting at US$455. The airline has scheduled the service to operate until the end of March 2027.

The launch of flights to the Maldives forms part of Shirak Air’s broader expansion plans ahead of the winter travel season. In addition to the Maldives, the airline has also decided to introduce weekly flights to Bali, Indonesia, and Phuket, Thailand, starting in November.

The new route is expected to provide travellers with an additional option for travelling between Armenia and the Maldives, potentially supporting tourism and strengthening connectivity between the two destinations.
