Government Expands Real Estate Development Vision Across the Maldives
1 November 2026 - 06:25

The Government plans to introduce more real estate development projects across different regions of the Maldives, Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) has said.
Speaking to Mendhuru TV, Mundhu said the Government is exploring opportunities to bring projects similar to the real estate development planned at Rasmalé by Eagle Hills to other parts of the country, taking into consideration areas with airports.
He identified Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll as a potential location for such a development. He also highlighted Addu City and Laamu Atoll as suitable areas for expanding real estate tourism, adding that the Government would work towards bringing similar projects to these regions.
Mundhu further stated that legal amendments would be introduced to ensure that funds generated through these real estate projects circulate within Maldivian banks.
He described the Rasmalé development as just the beginning, expressing confidence that once Eagle Hills completes the project, other international companies will also show interest in undertaking similar developments in the Maldives.
