In a recent address to the newly elected members of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) National Assembly, MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail outlined plans to amend the party's Constitution to better integrate councilors and women's development committee (WDC) members into the party's operational framework.

Speaking at the meeting, which was attended by several supportive members, Ismail emphasized the need for greater inclusion of these members in the party's policy formulation and activities. "Currently, party councilors and WDC members have limited roles in shaping MDP policies and participating in party activities," Ismail remarked. "I will propose minor constitutional amendments to ensure that councils and WDCs are effectively incorporated into the party structure. This will enable us to conduct party activities more collaboratively with the involvement of councilors."

The proposed changes are expected to enhance the role and influence of councilors and WDC members within the party, fostering a more inclusive decision-making process. By integrating these members more fully into the party's operations, Ismail aims to strengthen the party's internal cohesion and policy development.

The initiative received broad support from members present at the meeting, who view the proposed amendments as a step toward improving the party's organizational effectiveness and responsiveness.

As the MDP moves forward with these changes, the focus will be on implementing a more collaborative approach that leverages the diverse perspectives and contributions of all party members.
