Male, Maldives – The Maldives has welcomed over 50,000 tourists in the first few weeks of 2025, marking a strong start to the year for the tourism industry. According to the latest statistics, the island nation has already recorded more than 50,000 arrivals, with Russia emerging as the top source market.
Tourist Arrivals on the Rise
In the first 11 days of 2025, the Maldives saw 69,553 tourists, reflecting a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2024. January 11th stood out as the busiest day so far, with 8,090 tourists arriving in a single day. On average, more than 5,000 tourists have been arriving daily, showcasing the country's growing popularity as a global travel destination.
Top Source Markets
Russia leads the chart with 11,367 tourists, followed by Italy (8,499), the United Kingdom (5,537), Germany (4,369), and India (3,241). These figures highlight the diverse appeal of the Maldives, attracting visitors from across the globe.
Aiming for New Records
The strong start to 2025 builds on the momentum of previous years, including 2024, when the Maldives welcomed over 2 million tourists—a record-breaking achievement.
