On January 21, Pakistan's infamous intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), secretly dispatched a senior delegation to Dhaka, sparking concern in New Delhi. The delegation, comprising four top ISI officials, arrived aboard an Emirates Airlines flight that had a stopover in Dubai. Upon arrival, a senior official from Bangladesh's Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) was at the airport to receive them.

The visit has raised alarms in India, with the Ministry of External Affairs acknowledging the development and emphasizing its vigilance in monitoring the situation. An official spokesperson for India stated that the government is closely observing developments in its neighborhood, particularly those that may affect national security. India reassured that "appropriate action" would be taken if necessary.

Among the ISI officials visiting Dhaka is Major General Shahid Amir Afsar, the Director General of Analysis, who has previously served as Pakistan's defense attached in Beijing. This visit comes shortly after a Bangladeshi military delegation, led by Lt. Gen. SM Kamrul Hasan, the Principal Staff Officer of the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division, visited Rawalpindi. The Bangladeshi delegation held extensive talks with Pakistan’s top military leadership, including meetings with the army, air force, and navy chiefs, between January 13 and January 18.

The timing of these exchanges between Bangladesh and Pakistan, particularly the increased military engagement, has raised red flags in New Delhi, which is closely monitoring the situation for any developments that may have implications for regional security.
