Power Outages and Recovery Efforts Continue Post-Storm Éowyn

Efforts are ongoing to restore power across Northern Ireland as 75,000 customers remain without electricity following the severe impact of Storm Éowyn. NIE Networks has reported significant progress, with power restored to 210,000 properties, though full repairs are expected to take up to 10 days.

A yellow weather warning for wind is in effect today, with gusts of up to 60 mph expected. Many roads remain hazardous due to fallen trees, debris, and power lines, prompting the PSNI to urge caution for road users.

In the Republic of Ireland, approximately 330,000 customers are still without power, while thousands also face water disruptions.

Public transport services are gradually recovering. Key train lines have reopened, though speed restrictions and partial closures remain in place. Bus replacements are operating on cross-border routes due to ongoing rail works.

In rural areas, residents and farmers continue to voice frustrations over delayed restoration efforts. Clogher Valley Councillor Mark Robinson emphasized the challenges faced by rural communities, calling for more resources to address the situation effectively.

Recovery operations remain the focus as authorities work to restore normalcy in the wake of Storm Éowyn.
