Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, is expanding its regional operations by appointing new agents in Bangkok, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The airline has opened applications for interested partners, with submissions closing on Tuesday.

This move follows Maldivian’s recent expansion into China with the introduction of wide-body Airbus A330-200 flights. The airline now operates routes to Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai, marking a significant milestone in its international growth strategy.

The acquisition of the A330-200 is in line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s electoral pledge to strengthen Maldivian’s fleet with two wide-body aircraft. Additionally, the government has announced plans to acquire another wide-body aircraft, aiming to commence flights to European destinations by October this year.

By establishing agent partnerships in Malaysia and Thailand, Maldivian seeks to enhance its market presence in key regional hubs, further expanding its global connectivity.
