A British military naval vessel, RFA Lyme Bay, has docked at Lime Bay in Male' City this morning. The Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) ship's arrival has been confirmed by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), which stated that the vessel is in the Maldives for logistical purposes and has the necessary permissions to dock.

RFA Lyme Bay is a Bay Class Auxiliary Dock Landing Ship (LSD(A)) of the British Royal Fleet Auxiliary. The ship was ordered from Swan Hunter in 2000 and launched in 2005. Due to high costs and delays, the vessel faced several setbacks, including a period of inactivity. BAE Systems Naval Ships eventually completed its construction, and RFA Lyme Bay entered service with the British Royal Navy in late 2007.

According to the MNDF, the visit of RFA Lyme Bay is part of a logistical operation. The vessel's presence in the Maldives is intended to support regional maritime operations and strengthen ties between the UK and the Maldives.

The docking of RFA Lyme Bay in Male' City underscores the ongoing collaboration and maritime cooperation between the United Kingdom and the Maldives. The British Royal Fleet Auxiliary plays a crucial role in providing logistical support to the Royal Navy, and the ship's visit highlights the strategic importance of the region.
