On Tuesday evening at the PNC headquarters, Speaker of Parliament and PNC Chairman Abdul Raheem Abdulla declared that the current Parliament belongs to President Mohamed Muizzu. He emphasized that despite efforts by former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to sway lawmakers, the PNC holds a supermajority in Parliament, reflecting the people's support for President Muizzu’s administration.

Abdul Raheem asserted, “No matter how disappointed President Yameen may be, today’s Parliament is President Muizzu’s Parliament, given to him by the people.” He urged MPs to work collaboratively with President Muizzu for the nation’s benefit.

In response to Yameen’s criticism of Muizzu’s governance capabilities and Yameen’s decision to leave PPM and PNC to form a new party, Abdul Raheem countered that the supermajority achieved by the PNC in Parliament proves Muizzu’s governing competence. He pointed out that the significant electoral victory demonstrated the public’s confidence in Muizzu, contrasting it with Yameen’s failure to secure seats in the parliamentary elections.

Abdul Raheem was notably critical of Yameen, asserting that no one could match his own loyalty to Yameen and the senior PNC leadership.
