Military Honor March to Be Held Tomorrow Evening in Male’ in Celebration of National Day

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced that a grand Military Honor March will be held tomorrow evening in the capital, Male’, to mark the proud occasion of National Day.
The march, organized as part of annual celebrations to honor the historic victory of Sultan al-Ghazi Muhammad Thakurufaanu al-A'zam and Maldivian heroes over Portuguese occupation, will begin at 4:30 PM from Bandaara Koshi.
According to the MNDF, the march will proceed through several of the city’s main roads, with ceremonial stops planned at four key locations where the MNDF military band will perform:
- Sosun Magu, in front of the Dhivehi Bahuge Academy
- Intersection of Majeedhee Magu and Chandhanee Magu
- Majeedhee Magu, in front of Million Bookshop
- Boduthakurufaanu Magu, at the northwest corner of Kalhuthuhkala Koshi, where the march will conclude
This annual event serves as a symbol of national pride, patriotism, and remembrance. The 1st of Rabi’ al-Awwal is marked as National Day in the Maldives, commemorating the historic liberation of the nation from 15 years and 6 months of Portuguese occupation.
The MNDF invites the public to witness the march and join in celebrating the courage, unity, and legacy of the Maldivian people. Road users are also advised to expect temporary traffic changes during the event.
