Police in the Maldives have confirmed that no cat meat was found in any food during their investigation into allegations that a Bangladeshi national had been selling burgers made from stray cats. The investigation was launched after a social media uproar accused Arfath Hossain, a 32-year-old Bangladeshi of capturing, cooking, and selling cat meat.

Following the disturbing claims, police and the Immigration Department worked together to apprehend Hossain. He was arrested and taken into custody for further questioning. Despite the initial allegations, police have stated that no evidence of cat meat was found in the burgers during their investigation.

However, the case has not been dismissed. Hossain has been prosecuted and subsequently deported back to Bangladesh, as confirmed by the authorities. The incident has raised concerns about food safety, but with the police clearing the claim of cat meat, the matter is now considered resolved.
