First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed made a compelling appeal for integrating the Maldives' rich cultural history into everyday life during the inauguration of the 'Dhivehi Sagaafee Goathi' at Maafushi Prison on Thursday.

In her address, the First Lady underscored the importance of embedding cultural heritage into daily practices, aligning with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's national policy aimed at reviving nationalism. She articulated that recalling and celebrating the cultural history of the Maldivian people fosters a society free from social ailments and contributes to national pride and prosperity.

Madam Saajidha had stated that the integration of our cultural history into daily life not only preserves our heritage but also provides solutions to societal issues. In addition to this she mentioned that by reviving nationalism, we strengthen our community and ensure a more vibrant and cohesive society.

The 'Dhivehi Sagaafee Goathi,' a traditional Maldivian house unveiled at Maafushi Prison, is designed to showcase Maldivian culture and traditions. It features various traditional and cultural artefacts that highlight the country’s rich heritage.

This new facility will play a significant role in the rehabilitation process for inmates at Maafushi Prison. It will offer training opportunities in traditional craftsmanship, providing prisoners with valuable skills and fostering a deeper connection to their cultural roots.

The inauguration of 'Dhivehi Sagaafee Goathi' represents a step towards preserving and promoting Maldivian culture, while simultaneously contributing to the rehabilitative efforts within the prison system.
