Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef to Open Club Maldives Season with King's Cup Match

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef will host the King's Cup match, marking the opening of this year's Club Maldives season. The match, featuring a showdown between last year's Club Maldives champion Club Wamco and Resort Super League champion Jolly Maldives, is set to kick off at 9:00 pm tonight at the Hulhumale' Rehendi Turf No. 1 ground.
The Club Maldives season will also see the launch of the Club Maldives Classic, the ‘Eighteen Thirty’ Futsal Fiesta for women players, and the Club Maldives Cup. The King’s Cup will be the inaugural event of the season, followed by the Club Maldives Classic and ‘Eighteen Thirty’ Futsal Fiesta starting on September 3. The Club Maldives Cup is scheduled to commence on September 23.
The opening ceremony will feature a showcase of the tournament’s champion trophies as well as the home and away kits worn by the participating teams.
This year’s Club Maldives Cup will see 28 teams competing, divided into seven groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the next round, with the final two knockout spots being filled by the top two teams from the remaining groups.
The Club Maldives Classic will host 32 teams, continuing from last year's format, while the ‘Eighteen Thirty’ Futsal Fiesta will include seven teams divided into two groups. Each team in the three-team group will play against each other twice.
