Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has highlighted the growing threat of modern hybrid warfare, urging the nation’s youth to develop technical skills to effectively counter these evolving challenges. His remarks came during an official ceremony commemorating Huravee Day on Wednesday evening, where he discussed the complexities of contemporary warfare that increasingly involve hybrid weapons, strategies, and tactics.

In his speech, Vice President Latheef stressed the importance of not only courage and determination but also technical knowledge to combat threats. He emphasized that intellectual warfare, which undermines social cohesion and economic stability, could erode national unity and weaken trust among citizens, thus threatening the country’s long-term interests.

“Modern warfare now targets the very social fabric of our nation,” the Vice President stated, describing intellectual warfare as a prolonged assault that could have lasting repercussions on national stability. He called on the youth to stay vigilant and to master modern tactics, techniques, and strategies to protect the nation's future.

The Vice President further encouraged the younger generation to honor the sacrifices of national heroes, such as Dhonban’daarain, by actively engaging in initiatives designed to equip them with the skills needed to contribute to the country’s development. He noted that the government’s top priority remains safeguarding national interests and individual freedoms.

Highlighting the rapid advancements in technology and the growing role of artificial intelligence, the Vice President outlined the government’s ongoing efforts to bolster cybersecurity. These efforts, supported by relevant authorities, are aimed at strengthening the nation’s defenses against cyber threats, disinformation, and other aspects of hybrid warfare.

Latheef also commended President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for his strategic foresight, particularly in fostering international cooperation and enhancing the nation’s military capacity and internal security. He praised the President’s commitment to prioritizing national development, social security, and public health, which has raised the country's stature on the global stage.

Concluding his address, the Vice President prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the nation's heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country and for continued success and prosperity in the future.
