Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has underscored the importance of integrating modern educational methods to cultivate a sense of nationhood among the younger generation. His remarks were delivered during the official National Day celebration at the atoll level held in Sh. Maaungoodhoo.

is speech, Vice President Latheef stressed the need to instill a deep sense of pride in Maldivian identity in children. He urged the public to embrace and cherish the Dhivehi language, both in speech and writing. The Vice President also encouraged attendees to draw inspiration from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s National Day address delivered at Dharubaaruge, advocating for continued progress in the spirit of the President's vision.

Latheef reiterated the Government's commitment to its "Pro Maldives" policy, which aligns with the President's national agenda. This includes tackling drug addiction and addressing gang-related crimes. He outlined the goal of promoting peace and stability while introducing new revenue-generating industries in the Maldives. The aim is to foster a self-sufficient citizenry capable of thriving independently.

The Vice President also paid tribute to the legacy of Bodu Thakurufaanu, acknowledging his significant contributions to the nation. Thakurufaanu's lifelong dedication to national service and his efforts to solidify Maldivian identity and sovereignty were highlighted as exemplary models of commitment and patriotism.

In addition to his speech, Vice President Latheef presented the prestigious “Maares” award to the three most active Women’s Development Committees in Shaviyani Atoll, recognizing their outstanding contributions to community development.

The event, held in front of the Maaungoodhoo Health Centre, was a poignant celebration of Maldivian heritage and national pride, with significant emphasis on forward-looking strategies for the nation’s growth and unity.
