Heavy rains lashed Male' city last night, leading to waterlogging on the streets of the city.

The rain, which started late last night, did not stop till 7 am. With this, several parts of the city have been inundated.

The highest level of waterlogging was reported from Amini Road. While the entire Amini Road was waterlogged, the roads adjoining Amini Road were also flooded.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for large parts of the maldives, including Male' city, from 04:45 a.m. to 08:45 a.m. today.

The Met had earlier predicted a dry spell in the country during this period. The Met department has predicted rough seas, especially during the two days of the weekend, during the end of the southwest monsoon over the Maldives.

The agency has advised seafarers, especially those travelling on these two days, to keep a close watch on the weather.
