On the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, to discuss critical issues facing the Palestinian people and enhance bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, President Abbas delivered a poignant message to the international community, stating, "We are asking for a ceasefire because we are also human." He called for global support and collaboration to address the plight of the Palestinian people.

In response, President Dr. Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives' steadfast support for Palestine, expressing hope that the Palestinian people would receive their rightful entitlements. He pledged the Maldives' ongoing efforts to secure international recognition of Palestine as an independent nation.

President Abbas expressed gratitude for the Maldives' long-standing support, remarking, "We are always aware of the Maldives' support for the Palestinian people, and we deeply appreciate your unwavering solidarity."

The leaders also explored various areas of cooperation between their nations. They concluded the meeting with a commitment to work together on matters of mutual interest and to further strengthen diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Palestine.
