President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the strong and enduring relationship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, emphasizing that it is built on trust, respect, and mutual cooperation.

In a congratulatory message to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, and the people of Sri Lanka on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, President Muizzu praised the resilience and determination of the Sri Lankan people in their pursuit of progress.

In separate letters addressed to President Dissanayake and Prime Minister Amarasuriya, he highlighted the close ties between the two nations, underscoring their historical and cultural connections. He noted that as neighboring countries, the Maldives and Sri Lanka work together to address challenges and advance common interests.

President Muizzu expressed confidence that both nations would continue to collaborate in key areas, including economic and social development, while promoting regional stability, peace, and prosperity.

Additionally, the President shared a message on his official 'X' account to mark Sri Lanka’s Independence Day.
