Four Injured in Motorcycle Collision in Hulhumale’

A motorcycle collision in Hulhumale’ Phase I on Saturday morning resulted in four individuals being injured, including a child. According to the police, the injured were immediately taken to Hulhumale’ Hospital for medical treatment.
The accident, which took place in the morning, involved two motorcycles and left the riders with varying degrees of injuries. The police confirmed that one of the injured parties was a child, though their condition has not been disclosed.
This incident follows a series of recent traffic-related concerns in the capital. On Thursday, a three-year-old girl was struck by a motorcycle while crossing a road in Male’. The girl, who was on a zebra crossing, suffered head injuries. On Friday, a viral video emerged showing a man allowing a young child in a school uniform to steer a motorcycle on the Hulhumale’ Highway. The man is currently under investigation for child endangerment.
In response to the increasing number of accidents, the Maldives Police Service has intensified patrols, particularly in areas like the Sinamale’ Bridge and Hulhumale’ Highway, which have been identified as hotspots for road incidents. The police have set up check posts and increased surveillance in these areas, with measures reportedly leading to a decrease in accidents.
The police continue to investigate Saturday’s collision and urge residents to be more cautious on the roads.
