Expat Arrested in Maldives for Slaughtering Cats, Handed To Immigration

Expatriate worker accused of catching and slaughtering cats for food has been handed over to Immigration according Maldives Police Service.
Arafat Hossein, 32, had recently been accused of catching and slaughtering cats with the intention of making food from them. These accusations were first made on a social media post, by an organization which provides aid to stray cats.
According to the post, Arafat had been abducting stray cats from the streets of male, taking them home, slaughtering them and using them to make food to gain profit.
He had been arrested shortly after immigration released an announcement regarding this matter.
He was arrested at a local barber shop in Male, while attempting to disguise himself.
Arafat had been abducting these cats from the parking lot Infront of Male' Marry Brown.
There had also been multiple posts made on social media with videos of him, attempting to stuff the cats in plastic bags.
When questioned about these accounts in a video, Arafat had said that they were his cats.
Apart from that, there had also been many accounts from Arafat's
Neighbours, stating that they had seen cat carcasses and heard cat cries near his house.
