President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed for Pakistan today on an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

The October 20-22 visit comes at the invitation of Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and marks the first visit by a Maldivian president to Pakistan in the past decade.

According to the President’s Office, President Muizzu is scheduled to meet with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior officials.

Several agreements are expected to be signed during the visit, focusing on enhancing cooperation across various sectors and further developing the longstanding partnership between the Maldives and Pakistan.

The visit holds added significance as the two countries mark 60 years of diplomatic relations, established on July 26, 1966.

The Maldivian delegation includes First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, members of the Cabinet and senior government officials.
