Search Continues for Missing Man at Huvafenfushi Sandbank

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced that extensive search operations are underway to locate Thasleem Mohamed, who went missing on Thursday after visiting the sandbank south of Kaafu Atoll Huvafenfushi. Despite efforts, Thasleem, 43, from Maafannu Asaree Handhaan in Male' City, remains unaccounted for.

Thasleem was last seen between 10:00 hrs and 11:00 hrs on Thursday. The search area has covered 5,000 square feet around the sandbank, with 3,000 square feet searched underwater through diving operations.

MNDF reports that the search, led by the Male' Area Coastguard, has yet to confirm whether Thasleem went missing at sea. Consequently, the operation is being coordinated with the Police.

The Police are urging anyone with information about Thasleem or anyone who has recently visited the sandbank to contact Himmafushi Police Station at 9794639.
