STELCO has donated two advanced pieces of equipment to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in a special ceremony held at Bandaara Koshi yesterday. The donated items include a drone for firefighting operations and a deep tracker for underwater searches.
The drone is designed for firefighting, particularly in emergencies involving tall buildings. It is capable of flying up to 200 meters and is equipped to carry and deploy a water hose, enabling more efficient fire control in difficult-to-reach areas.
The deep tracker, on the other hand, is equipped with the ability to dive to depths of 200 meters, making it ideal for underwater searches. It also features a robotic arm, allowing it to retrieve objects from great depths.
At the handover ceremony, STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy officially presented the equipment to the MNDF, with Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, the Chief of Defence Force, receiving it on behalf of the MNDF. This donation aims to further enhance the capabilities of the MNDF in handling complex firefighting and search-and-rescue missions, particularly in challenging environments.
