Israeli forces have reportedly fired on Palestinians attempting to return to their homes in northern Gaza, killing at least one person. This incident comes amid growing accusations from Hamas, who claim Israel is delaying the implementation of the fragile ceasefire agreement.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that displaced Palestinians will not be allowed to return, citing a delay by Hamas in releasing a female civilian hostage. The standoff emerges as the ceasefire enters its second week. Just yesterday, a prisoner exchange took place, with Israel releasing 200 Palestinian detainees in exchange for four Israeli soldiers.

Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, Israeli military operations continue in and around Jenin. At least two Palestinians, including a two-year-old girl, have been killed in these raids, further escalating tensions.

Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has faced devastating losses. More than 47,283 Palestinians have been killed, and over 111,472 wounded. On the Israeli side, 1,139 people were killed in Hamas-led attacks, with over 200 hostages taken.

As the ceasefire hangs in the balance, the humanitarian crisis worsens, with no clear resolution in sight.
