Six Israeli captives are being released in Gaza as part of a prisoner exchange deal, with Israel freeing 602 Palestinian detainees. The exchange marks a significant development amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Meanwhile, the family of deceased Israeli captive Shiri Bibas has confirmed the identification of her remains. This follows the return of a body from Gaza on Thursday, initially believed to be hers, but later discovered to belong to another individual.
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces fatally shot two Palestinian children, aged 12 and 13, in separate incidents in Jenin and Hebron. The killings have further fueled tensions in the region.
The humanitarian toll in Gaza continues to rise. The Gaza Health Ministry reports that 48,319 Palestinians have been killed and 111,749 wounded since the war began. Meanwhile, the Government Media Office has updated its death toll to at least 61,709, stating that thousands more remain missing under the rubble and are presumed dead.
The ongoing conflict escalated following the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of at least 1,139 people and the abduction of over 200 individuals. The situation remains critical, with no immediate resolution in sight.
