President Muizzu Urges Research-Driven Development

In his keynote address at the inauguration of the "Theveli International Conference 2024," President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the government's commitment to building a research-oriented society that prioritizes knowledge and evidence in shaping development. The President outlined a vision for a Maldives where policy decisions and challenges are addressed through professional, evidence-based solutions.
Dr. Muizzu called on all sectors—academia, researchers, policymakers, the private sector, and the general public—to collaborate on this vital goal. He stressed the need to enhance local research systems and ensure that development models align with the country's communities, values, and future aspirations. The establishment of the National Research Council was highlighted as a key initiative in fostering a research-driven future.
In closing, the President encouraged active engagement in research, urging individuals to seek knowledge and contribute to the nation's progress. He expressed optimism about the Maldives' potential for continued growth, innovation, and prosperity in an evolving world.
The seventh edition of the conference, organized by the Maldives National University (MNU), is being held from August 19-20, 2024, under the theme “Bridging Boundaries: Exploring Synergies Across Research Disciplines.”
