President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu's has called for the removal of discriminatory attire rules in employment, which highlights a significant shift towards inclusivity.

By addressing the issue of discrimination faced by women wearing niqabs, particularly in the context of the Dh. Hulhudheli Magistrate Court, the President has advocated for policies that respect personal attire as long as it aligns with Islamic standards.

The controversy arose when the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) sent an email rejecting an applicant for an admin officer position at the court. The email cited Section 129 of the Judicial Staff Rules, 2011, which mandates that employees should wear clothing in a manner that makes it clear who is present. Specifically, it expressed concerns that the niqab obscure's identity and thus does not meet this criterion.
