Maldives Zakat House Allocates MVR 16.7 million for Medical Treatment in 2024

The Maldives Zakat House has announced that it has disbursed a total of MVR 16.7 million from its Zakat Fund for medical treatments so far this year. This substantial allocation underscores the organization's commitment to supporting individuals in need of critical healthcare.
According to a recent statement from the Zakat House, the fund has been used to cover a range of medical expenses, including treatments for cancer, heart operations, kidney diseases, and seizure-related surgeries. Additionally, the Zakat Fund has contributed to various other activities beyond medical aid.
In August alone, the Zakat House has allocated MVR 1,123,400.27 in aid. This includes:
- Cancer Treatment: MVR 385,885.00
- Heart Surgery: MVR 25,443.00
- Kidney Ailments: MVR 157,205.00
- Seizure Operations: MVR 157,205.00
- Other Medical Surgeries: MVR 130,886.00
- Miscellaneous Expenses: MVR 4,125,500.27 (covering Wakf production, administrative staff salaries, and other expenditures)
The Zakat House reported that cancer patients have received the highest level of support, reflected the significant demand and need for assistance in this area. Furthermore, MVR 37,800 has been allocated for the construction of the Wakf building, and MVR 268,276.72 has been used for administrative staff wages related to Zakat work.
