President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held a meeting with Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs of China and a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

During the discussion, President Muizzu emphasized the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening relations with China. The two leaders reviewed the ongoing agreements and joint projects between their countries, with the President expressing gratitude for China's continued support in various sectors, particularly in the development of the Maldives' tourism industry.

In response, Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s strong support for the Maldives and reiterated the country’s readiness to assist in all areas of cooperation moving forward.
