In preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, the Maldives has received a generous donation of 50 metric tonnes of dates from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This significant contribution was officially announced by Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the Minister of Islamic Affairs.
Minister Saeed confirmed that the dates have already arrived in the Maldives and reassured the public that the Ministry of Islamic Affairs will ensure the dates are distributed to every household in the country before Ramadan begins. This annual donation is part of the longstanding tradition of Saudi Arabia's support for the Maldives during the fasting month of Ramadan.
In addition to distributing the dates to individual households, the Ministry will also allocate a portion of the donation to local organizations that are planning to host Iftar programs throughout the month. These programs provide a communal opportunity for people to break their fast together. Minister Saeed emphasized that the distribution process will be closely supervised by the Ministry to ensure that the dates reach the intended recipients and are distributed in an organized manner.
This generous donation further strengthens the relationship between the two nations and highlights Saudi Arabia's ongoing commitment to supporting the Maldives during Ramadan each year.
