Male, Maldives – The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced a historic milestone in the collection of wealth Zakat, with a record-breaking MVR 101.9 million received in 2024. This marks the largest amount ever collected as wealth Zakat in a single year in the history of the Maldives.

The Ministry attributed this achievement to the strengthened and streamlined Zakat system following the inauguration of the Zakat House on January 2, 2024. The establishment of the Zakat House has played a pivotal role in enhancing public awareness and participation in Zakat contributions.

A Testament to Growing Awareness

The Ministry noted a significant increase in Maldivians' attentiveness to Zakat matters, reflecting a growing commitment to fulfilling this important Islamic obligation. The total amount collected this year stands at MVR 101,939,070.15 (One hundred and one million, nine hundred and thirty-nine thousand, seventy rufiyaa, and fifteen laari).

Strengthening the Zakat System
