In a historic move, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the 'Higher Awards' ceremony today, marking the first time a Maldivian president has honored all sessions of the event. The ceremony celebrated and rewarded outstanding students who excelled in their higher secondary and secondary examinations.
Dr. Muizzu's involvement was notable as he attended three separate ceremonies throughout the day, recognizing a total of 441 awardees at the national level. This dedication underscores his commitment to fostering educational excellence and supporting the progress of the nation's youth.
This year’s event saw a significant shift from previous practices, where sponsorships from large government or private entities funded the awards. For the first time, the state budget directly financed the ceremony, reflecting an increased investment in the educational sector and ensuring a high level of recognition for the students’ achievements.
The 'Higher Awards' ceremony not only honored the top-performing students but also showcased the government's direct role in supporting educational initiatives and celebrating academic success.
