The funds raised from the Presidential Telethon, organized to support Palestine, have been officially transferred to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (AnrA).
The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) facilitated the deposit of over MVR 19 million, equivalent to approximately US$1.2 million, directly into AnrA's account.
The Public Service Media (PSM), which organized the telethon last month, raised the funds to aid in addressing the humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinian people.
The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the money was sent in dollars, countering recent rumors that claimed the funds had not been transferred.
The Presidential Telethon was initiated by the government to provide much-needed assistance to Palestine amid ongoing humanitarian challenges. With the funds now successfully handed over to AnrA, the agency is expected to commence its relief efforts to support those in need.
The government has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and humanitarian support, emphasizing that the funds have been properly allocated and that the assistance to Palestine will proceed as planned.
